Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Fujikoe is an independent Japanese-learning app published by [DEVELOPER NAME]. Contact: [EMAIL].
2. Data we collect
None. We operate no servers and no analytics. Everything you create in Fujikoe — flashcards, spaced-repetition progress, journal entries, streaks, settings — is stored locally on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
3. Data handled on your device
- Microphone. If you use the "Say it" pronunciation check, audio is processed by your device's built-in speech recognizer to produce a transcription. We do not record, store, or transmit your audio.
- Handwriting. Strokes drawn in the writing drill are recognized on-device by Google ML Kit. The Japanese recognition model is downloaded once from Google and then works offline.
- API keys. Keys you enter are stored in your device's secure storage (Android Keystore) and are sent only to the AI provider you selected, only when you trigger an AI action. Keys are never included in backup exports.
4. AI features (your provider, your key)
Conversation practice and journal feedback are optional and disabled until you add your own API key. When you use them, the text of that conversation or journal entry is sent directly from your device to the provider you chose (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google), governed by that provider's privacy policy and your agreement with them. We never see, receive, or store this content.
5. Advertising
Fujikoe shows a single banner ad served by Google AdMob. The AdMob SDK may collect device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID), IP-derived coarse location, and diagnostic data to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's advertising policy and privacy policy. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID and opt out of personalization in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
6. Backups you create
The export feature writes your deck, progress, and journal to a JSON file and hands it to you via the system share sheet. Where that file goes (your cloud drive, email, SD card) is entirely your choice and your responsibility. API keys are never included.
7. Children
Fujikoe is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone (see section 2).
8. Security
All network connections (ad serving, AI requests, model download) use HTTPS. API keys use platform secure storage. Because we hold no data, there is no account to breach and nothing for us to lose.
9. Your rights
Since all data lives on your device, you exercise your rights directly: view it in the app, export it with Backup, delete it by clearing app data or uninstalling. For questions (GDPR, CCPA, or otherwise), contact [EMAIL].
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
